WGW Development was established in December of 2006 and hit the ground running with development and construction of a 120,000 sf Safeway anchored shopping center. Although there are 4 partners only two are actively involved in the day to day activities.
Rod Wetherbee - Partner
Rod Wetherbee is an active partner who handles all land acquisitions and works closely with Ron on some day to day activities. Rod has a passion for development and has a BA degree from ASU in Commercial Land Appraisal and Acquisition. Rod is very involved with the community and Pierce County Economic Land Development issues.
Ron has worked in the development and property management industry for over 30 years. Throughout Ron’s career he has had key involvement with many successful high profile commercial developments. Prior to starting a new venture with WGW Development Ron was Vice President/Construction Manager with Washington Real Estate Holdings which was formerly Lowe Enterprises for a total of 18 years. Ron was responsible for managing all construction projects within the Washington Holdings and Lowe Enterprises Northwest portfolio. When Ron is involved with a project he brings confidence and certainty that projects are done within schedule, on budget and attention to detail and quality. During the first two years at WGW Development Ron took charge of the construction management and development responsibilities of Canyon Crossing, a 120,000 sq ft retail Safeway anchored project. This project had some unique challenges of constructing a 47 foot retaining wall and exporting over 200,000 cubic tons of soil. The project was completed on schedule and on budget.WGW Development also managed the construction of the Safeway store on this project with great success.
Over the years Ron has developed a team of General Contractors, Sub Contractors and Consultants that are loyal professionals that help make any project he is involved with a success. Ron’s unique concept and management of a development and construction brings an advantage to the process of understanding the site from the beginning of the design process to the end. With his expertise he is able to identify possible unforeseen conditions and put together a meaningful pro-forma to prevent costly overruns and risk. When construction starts on the project Ron is on site watching over all aspects of the project working closely with the Consultants, County inspectors, General Contractor and Subcontractors. Ron works closely with the City and County to insure permits are obtained in a timely manner and is not afraid to challenge issues that arise that potentially could slow down a project or incur extra costs.
This style of management insures a successful project for all involved and has been proven for many projects Ron has worked on.
